Builtfirst overview

Builtfirst builds embedded, white-labelled marketplaces where an organisation lists its partners' products and services, usually as discounted offers to its own audience. It provides a no-code editor for branding the marketplace, a library of pre-negotiated listings so the marketplace is not empty on day one, email automation around the offers, tracking of redemptions and savings, and dashboards on partner and customer activity.

What separates it from other marketplace tools

The pre-built supply. Launching a perks or partner marketplace normally means negotiating dozens of deals before the page is worth visiting, which is months of work before any value appears. Builtfirst brings an existing catalogue of offers, so a marketplace can go live with real content immediately. That inverts the usual sequencing problem, and it is the main reason to choose this over building a directory yourself.

The second point is who actually buys it. The named customers are venture funds, accelerators and startup communities: Uncork Capital, Flybridge, Forum Ventures, OpenVC, StartOut and Globalfy. That reveals the real use case. A fund offers portfolio companies discounted software as a benefit of taking its money, and Builtfirst is the infrastructure behind that. It is a partnerships product in the sense that it runs a two-sided offer marketplace, but the buyer is often a platform team at an investor rather than a partner manager at a software company.

The trade-off follows. If you are a software vendor looking to build an integration marketplace, or to sell through the cloud marketplaces, this is not that product. It is a perks and offers marketplace, and should be compared against other perks platforms rather than against either of those.

Who it fits

Venture funds, accelerators, communities and membership organisations wanting to offer negotiated software discounts under their own brand, and companies building a partner perks programme.
